Chile

At the 2008 Mennonite Church Canada assembly in Winnipeg, Raquel Contreras, President of the Baptist Union of Chile, spoke of her country’s social fabric, torn by domestic abuse and troubled family relationships.

She expressed her denomination’s desire to reclaim its Anabaptist and peace church heritage. Through teaching, networking, and leadership development, Mennonite Church Canada will work with the 300+ congregations of the Baptist Union of Chile to recover their identity and history as a peace church, so that congregations can infuse all aspects of their communities with peace.
