Macau - Safe Places - Safe Kids

Provide a safe after-school place for a child and open a door to families.

In Canada we call them latch-key kids – kids who let themselves into their own homes after school and don’t see a parent until supper time or later. Latch-key kids live in other parts of the world too, but most do not have a key to let themselves into their home. In Macau, kids often hang out on the street until a parent gets home. International ministry workers in several countries provide after school programs for these children, offering a place where they can get a snack, some help with their homework, or learn English.

The friendships forged out of these programs open doors to family ministry and a chance to share God’s love with parents in the community who themselves frequently become weekend volunteers and gradually draw in others. When you help provide safe places for kids, you open a door to nurturing an entire family.
