Growing Faith with a New Generation of Resources...

Rotary dial phones, 8-tracks, “floppy” diskettes, cassette tapes, photo negatives… there might be a lot of things in your basement or garage that your kids or grandkids wouldn’t recognize. While some of us still remember the battle between Betamax and VHS formats, many children in our churches don’t know there was ever a video format other than DVD!

As homes and congregations across the country replace VHS players with DVD players, the Mennonite Church Canada Resource Centre wants to match this new generation of technology with a new generation of resources. Many excellent new DVD resources are available, and many “old favourites” in the Resource Centre collection need to be upgraded from VHS to DVD.

The Resource Centre is also planning to replace its existing library card sign out system (something else your kids or grandkids might not recognize!) with an electronic sign out system using barcodes and scanners. This technology will simplify Resource Centre sign outs and returns, allowing staff to keep up with rapidly growing circulation (over 30% growth in the last year alone!).
